Sonada – The students of Salesian College Sonada History department conducting the morning assembly commemorated the 103rd birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
Student Simon Dukpa of History department initiated the programme and gave a gist of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s academic background and his contribution to society.
Deendayal Upadhyaya was an Indian thinker of RSS ideology, and former leader of the political party Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the forerunner of Bharatiya Janata Party. He became president of the Jana Sangh in December 1967.
After History department’s presentation, President and Advisor of Sri Satya Sai Sewa Samiti Mr. Mahendra Pradhan and Mr T.R. Sharma, two visitors from Darjeeling addressed the college community appreciating the facilities in the college as well as exhorting students to exploit the facilities offered. They also shared their struggle to find adequate educational requisites for all around development to build strong character.
They exhorted the students to exploit the facilities available int he college.
The assembly concluded with Abishek Bhujel of Education department announcing the results of the Waste to Best utility programme. The new B.Voc department secured the first prize while Political Science Department bagged the second place.
All participants received Certificate of Participation from Vice Rector Dr. Tomy Augustine.
