24th August 2018: The History Department of Salesian College Sonada came up with a plan to visit the ‘Netaji Institute for Asian Studies’ at Giddapahar, Kurseong as a part of educational trip. With the permission of Rev. Father Principal, at 10:54 am 19 students with one faculty, Miss Prayana Subbastarted the trip from college campus in the bus.
The team reached Kurseong at 11:40 am and Giddapahar at 11:57 am. 10 minutes’ walk from the main road and the team reached the Historic House Museum at 12:10 pm. Taking pictures were prohibited inside the house. Therefore, for the remaining one and half hour the students explored the House Museum, collected important information related to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and his life.The students were divided into five groups for collecting data. While one group indulged themselves in interviews with the people around the other group had some question-answer session withthe in-charge of the house Mr. Ganesh Pradhan. Likewise, all the five groups did their respective data collection and came up with some new findings as well as observations.Mr. Pradhan shared his deep knowledge about the life and incidents of Netaji. He also gave a brief history of the house as well as the present administering of the House Museum. He further proposed the team to attend seminars to be held in future at the Museum House. The seminars usually witnessed the presence of historical intellects and research scholars. He even suggested the students to take active participation in events coming up and promised to invite the department in the next program.
The final picture was taken by the whole team in front of the house along with Mr. Ganesh Pradhan. The team left the place at 1:40 pm. The team stopped for Lunch at Bus terminus below St. Alphonsus School for about half an hour (2 – 2:30 pm). The team was back to the college campus by 3:05pm.
