Mission Today editor alumnus Passes away

Shillong – Professor (Fr.) Paul Vadakumpadam who was made president of Sacred Heart Theological College at Mawlai Shillong in August 2019 died of brain tumour discovered five months ago. He belonged to Salesian College Sonada batch of 1974.
Fr. Paul passed away at Sacred Heart Theological College at Mawlai, Shillong at 11.45 am on Monday 18 November 2019. He was 67 years old.
The Requiem Mass for Fr. Paul will take place on Wednesday 20th November at 1.30 p.m. at St. Dominic Savio Parish, Mawlai which will be followed by a funeral cortège to the Catholic Cemetery at Laitumkhrah,” says Secretary of Salesian provincial of Shillong Fr. Daniel Cajee.
Fr. Vadakumpadam popularly known in North-East India as Fr. V.V. Paul was the editor of Mission Today journal published from the Sacred Heart Theological College Shillong.
Five years ago in 2014, Dr . Vadakumpadam had published over a period of 25 years (1989 to 2015) 12 books, 31 scholarly articles on missiology and theology and edited 50 issues of Mission Today Journal. Some of his books are used as textbooks in various Theological colleges across the country.
Mission Today is the direct descendent of Indian Missiological Review started by the late institution builder of northeast India, Salesian Fr. (Dr.) Sebastian Karotemprel in 1979 as a missiological and ecumenical research journal.
