NATIONAL PRESS DAY 2018

Mass Comm students of Salesian College Sonada held their 2nd Annual National Press Day celebrations with a Students Seminar on the topic “Media & Democracy: Theory and Practices, on Friday 16 November 2018.
The 3rd year Students of Political Science and Education participated in the event held at Mass Comm Department’s AV Hall adjacent to the Television studio and class rooms.
After a brief introduction by Vice-Principal and HoD Mass Comm Fr C.M. Paul, Assistant Professor Privat Giri spoke on media and Democracy.
Student presentations followed startng with an Overview of Press Freedom and Democracy by Iqra Ahmed. It was followed by Press Freedom in India by Bijay Prasad, and Press and Democracy by Palzor Lama. Ashwin Pradhan spoke on The political economy of media in India, followed by Gauri Lankesh story by Nikita Chettri and Jamal Khashoggi story by Deepwang.
Srishti Gupta spoke on Press as a watch dog and Suprina Rai highlighted the Mee Too Movement.
Asst Prof Shruthi Chettri compered the event which concluded with an interactive session.
