NCC’s first Everest girl climber addresses SCS Assembly

The first all-girl team of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) to climb Mount Everest, which included Darjeeling college girl Trishala Gurung addressed Salesian College Sonada students on 26 November 2018.

Miss Trishala Gurung, then a student of Southfield College Darjeeling was among the 10 girls to be selected from a group of 100 plus cadets across the country to be part of the NCC team to scale the highest peak.

After two-years of rigorous training Trishala aged 22, reached Everest summit on 22 May 2016.

Speaking at the morning assembly at Salesian College Sonada, Trishala encouraged students to climb their Mount Everest of emotions on a dialy basis.

Currently working at Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) Darjeeling, Trishala also gave an interview for Radio Salesian’s popular weekly programme entitled Sarshakta Naari (Empowered Woman).
